Changing Area: Yes. They've got a changing-cum-feeding room up on the first floor. Just take the elevator and turn right. The entrance is just between the elevators and the men's section. Walls are quite brightly painted - generally children-friendly colors.
First, they've got seats in a 'lounge'-like area. This would be suitable for fathers, siblings or helpers to wait around while mommy goes in and feeds. Then there's a sink area. Not suitable for washing any baby's bum but pretty okay if you're feeding baby anything other than breastmilk as they have fairly clean counter space and a water heater jar.
Each 'room' has wooden and cushioned benches surrounding a cot. Mommy can feed baby in relative privacy and if absolutely necessary, place baby in the cot for a short nap.
Cleanliness is okaylah. But advisable to bring maybe a thin blanket for personal hygiene. Feeding room: As described in 'Changing Area'
Babyfriendly Trolleys: Standard shopping carts with baby seats.
Play Areas: Not that I've noticed.
Family Parking Bay: No special parking bays for family cars with babies. The parking lot is also rather small and at times can be difficult to find space - especially during the weekends. But then again, what shopping complex has parking space during the weekends?

CoChine on Asian Heritage Row

Ambience:Lovely and cool. Romantic atmosphere. The tables are comfortably spaced out. Enough for a baby-wearing mom or even a stroller to fairly easily move about.
Smoking Section:None sectioned off specifically. But upon enquiry, was told that if requested, they can cordone off an area as non-smoking. Based on visual observation, it seems that they have a 'room' space that can be closed off with a few 'doorways' with heavy curtains. That can possibly be closed for that purpose.
Baby Chair:None. However, they have long benches for some of the tables. These have cushions and some of those triangular thai cushions (dunno what they're called - see photo below)If you've got a baby who's not that mobile yet, it can be perfect. Just have the baby resting next to you. Or if you do have a very mobile baby like mine, just watch as she patrols the length of the bench.
Toilets:Fairly clean. Not suitable for baby changing however. Consider changing in the car or even if absolutely desperate on a changing mat on one of those benches - hidden away from view. And do it quick.
Food:Good Indo-chinese selection of food. Some non-spicy food as well as tofu if you're keen to let the little one try when they're ready.
Staff:Very polite and generally friendly.
Extra:For a fussy baby, the decor can be a nice little distraction. There are fascinating burmese carvings, water features downstairs and also fishes!!! Babies and kids always love that!

Parkson (KLCC)

Changing Area/Feeding Room: Yes. It's located on the children's floor further up from the Customer Service desk. In fact, one of the most friendly and comfortable rooms I've seen so far. They're brightly painted. Has got two little rooms which has got a curtain to provide privacy to the nursing mom. The walls are padded and so is the bench. There is a sink for washing in next to the changing area.
Baby Friendly Trolleys: Haven't quite noticed. Will update next.
Play Areas: The kiddies section have got a table and stools for kids to play at. Aside from that not that much.
Family Parking Bays: No. Parking bays are quite difficult to find even. However, to minimise parking time, head straight up to P1 where it's easier to find a parking. This can be very useful if you have a fussy baby who wants out of her seat asap!
Extras: Haven't noticed or thought about it yet.

TESCO Ampang

Changing Area: Not sure about this yet. Will update on next visit.
Feeding Room: Same as above.
Babyfriendly Trolleys: I like that TESCO has baby cradle sort of trolleys. It takes into account there will be parents of very young children who will need all the help they can get. The seats are of fibreglass (I think) material. There are straps to hold the baby safely. Much like a car seat.
Play Areas: No.
Family Parking Bays: They do have family parking bays just outside on the side of the building. But it also has the sign for the handicapped. But the times I have been there, again, it seems that the spaces are always taken up but with no visible children's car seat/booster.
Extras: There's a drinking water fountain at the end across from the rice section and also a bench right next to it. Breast feeding mothers will almost always benefit with lots of drinking water. So, that's a plus. And if necessary, the mother can get some rest after all that browsing (lifting etc), get a drink, and perhaps even sneak some nursing time!

IKEA

Changing Area/Feeding Room: Yes. There's a little room just outside the cafe next to the ladies toilet. Clean and comfortable. It's sort of a display-cum-use area. Much like the rest of their store. It's excellent. There are two changing tables side by side with their blow up white changing pad. On top of that are rolls of paper that you can lay down on the changing pad in case you don't find it clean enough or you need to wipe anything. Then there are hanging mobiles. Lovely! Great to distract baby for a while until you can pop them back in their diapers/nappies. There's an armchair that fairly comfortable in the corner for breastfeeding moms. The place is really just big enough for one mom and baby (maybe a couple of older kids at the most). I like that it's big enough to push your trolley in if need be. There's a lock on the door if you really need privacy.
Babyfriendly Trolleys: Yes. On Level one where the displays rooms are, there are small trolleys that you hang those yellow bags on with a little seat for the babe. The trolleys are light and easy to maneuver. The walkways are wide and gives good space for the pushing the fairly compact trolley around. Then if necessary, going up the little ramp into the side displays are not too much of a problem - just a little slightly harder push up. The trolleys aren't all that stable though, so be sure to keep a close eye on baby. Especially wriggly climby wormy ones. That said, however, Cerys and I had some fun times wheeling around in one of those.
Play Area: Smaland. Excellent for kids above 3 years old. They check kids in and then you can collect your kids on your way out. Kinda like Kizsports but I don't yet know if you need to pay. Will find out next visit. Then there are various play stops all over the complex for kids to play with! Cerys at about 8 months was crawling and loved the slide - with lots of loving help from Papa of course.
Family Parking Bay: These are the best parking bays in Malaysia! And their family parking bays are so so spacious. Only problem is, they all seem to be always taken up! Sometimes walking past, I don't notice any baby/child seats! So it either means they don't use car seats for their babies/kids or they're just plain insensitive.
Extras: IKEA is wonderful! A tired mom can sit just about anywhere in here! And plonk themselves on some very comfortable settees on the pretense of trying them out! When really, we just need a some time off our feet for a bit. Or maybe sneak a sip or two for the little one.

California Pizza Kitchen (KLCC)

Ambience: It's in a KLCC shopping centre and air conditioned. Very comfortable temperature the times we've been there. Not too many sharp corners. Has comfortable booth seats.
Smoking section: Their smoking section's outside in the open air. And they're closed out with glass doors. Avoid sitting near the doors as occassionally when they open the doors to bring orders out, the wind would blow the smoke in. But generally, good non-smoking section.
Baby Chair: Yes. Some interesting looking ones too. Looks fairly comfortable. I will update with a photo the next time we visit.
Do they offer you the chair?: Not all the time. Sometimes you have to ask them. But they'll gladly bring it over when you do.
Is it clean?:The chair is generally ok. The chair is designed without it's own table and such that the child is at the main table with you. Nice as they are closer to you that way. And the table's pretty clean.
Toilets: Quite clean. Will update with photos. Also forgot to see if they have a changing area.
Food: One of the better pizza/pasta places to my taste. So, quite kid friendly. Our cousin's 3 year old loved their pizza.
Staff: Generally quite helpful if you ask. And staff in kitchen space are friendly with baby when they noticed baby.
Extra: They provide an activity sheet for kids and a crayon. Keeps the kids busy for a while! Even Cerys was kept busy. It was her first time with crayons and paper! whoo hoo!

Bangsar Shopping Complex (BSC)

Changing Area: Yes, in the ladies toilet. Not sure in the Gents. Will get hubby to look next time. They've got changing tables of the fold down kind made from fiberglass. It's positioned in a little corner on the wall and folds down over the basin. So, quite convenient if you want to wash anything. The bin is also within arm's reach making it easy to dump wipes or diapers or liners. The paper dispensier is also accessible, so if you need to clean anything else that doesn't require very soft paper, it will do quite nicely.
Feeding room: Nope. This one I found difficult. Trying to breastfeed a wriggly 11 month old really takes a really quiet place and out of distraction. Babies her month really would prefer to explore rather than feed.
Play areas:There aren't much spaces for the baby to play much at all. However, there are outlets like Kizsports, that has play-mazes. These are better suited for older kids. And you have to pay. For older kids, you have have the choice to leave your kid(s) there, and go shopping. However, try going to Times bookshop. They've got a nice shoes-off children's section for kids to sit down and read.
Family Parking Bay:Not that I've noticed. It doesn't seem to have family friendly parking bays. So, if you're carrying your baby or taking your stroller out, you might have to squeeze a little and maybe walk a little distance away depending on where you manage to find a space.

Hari Hari Datang off Jalan Ampang

This is my first posted review but I'll keep it as simple and methodical as I can. Perhaps you can give me feedback on how I can improve this and what you'd like to see/know about the place.

Ambience: High roofs and mister fans makes it cool, not air conditioned but comfortable
Smoking section: No special smoking section. All under the same roof or lack of. I recommend al fresco if the weather's right.
Baby Chair: Provided
Do they offer you the chair? Yes
Is it clean? Fairly. I'd say 6/10
Toilets: Not that clean. Bring your own potty. Yeah right, like that's gonna happen. But you're not going to sit around there that long are you?
Food: It's a food court. Quite a good selection/variety. Ikan bakar (the mussels are excellent, but don't recommend to baby since it's laden with MSG), chicken rice, claypot rice, thai food, porridge (perhaps for some babies?), etc.
Staff: Friendly, but not overly, which I think some parents would appreciate.

That's it for the moment I suppose. I've got a photo of the high chair they provided. But I've got to first figure out how to transfer it from my phone to the pc. Hee hee. Till the next review!

Baby-friendly kicks off!

If you're like me, you dread going out because each time you do, you'll have to wonder, what if my baby needed this? What if she needed that? Where can I feed him? Is that place clean? Does it have a place for her to play at? Do they have baby friendly food/plates/cutlery? Do they provide cots in their rooms (hotel)?

Well, after looking high and low, I realized there isn't quite a place yet where I can really find out where to go that I can feel comfortable bringing Cerys to.

So, this is it. It's a start. And I hope that it will help some mommies (and daddies) out there like myself, who'd like to be able to find a place comfortable to go with their babes.
